A Child- centered, Holistic Approach
Our teachers are guided by a lifeways-based curriculum, which blends Montessori and Dalton
education principals. This plan is designed for teachers and students to work together in group projects and individualized goals. This approach provides our students at different levels of proficiency greater flexibility while mastering each subject.
New Vistas Academy curriculum features a traditional, well-balanced core of essential subjects: Early Admission to Pre-shool and Kindergarten: Students enter Pre-school and kindergarten or first grade prior to achieving the minimum age for school entry as set by district or State policy. Scholastic emphasis is placed on: Reading Readiness, Phonics. Language skills, Mathematics/preparation. Science, Social Studies, Critical thinking, Music, Physical activity.
The Elementary School Grades 1-5
Scholastic emphasis is placed on: Reading Comprehension, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social studies, Computer technology, Art, Foreign language, Physical education, Music. .
The Middle School 6-8
Scholastic emphasis is placed on: English, Writing, History, Mathematics, Science, Foreign language, Social studies, Computer technology, Critical thinking, Physical education, Arts, Music.
The Upper Level 9-12
Our Upper School core curriculum includes study in Literature, U.S. History, Ancient Civilization, Science, Foreign language, Computer technology, Algebra/Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Math, Chemistry, Civics, Health, Music & Arts. Among the the unique elective courses offered are Economics, Psychology.
